Some TikTok users said that they are having a hard time messaging another account. This is because these people don't follow the individuals they want to DM.

How to message on TikTok
According to Support TikTok's latest post, the popular video platform offers the Direct Message feature that allows its users to DM their friends and other people they are currently following. To do this, all you need to do is follow these steps:
- Go to the person's profile that you want to message.
- Click the message icon.
- After that, all you need to do is type in your message.

On the other hand, you can also send videos to them using the app's Direct Message feature. Just follow these simple steps:
- Click the Share button on the video and choose the TikTok app.
- After that, click the message and select the user you want to send the video to.
- Once you find that specific user, all you need to do is click the Send option.
Can you DM a TikTok user without following them?
TikTok confirmed that it had implemented new restrictions on the users who can use the app's Direct Message feature, which includes the age limit of 16 years old and above. On the other hand, ByteDance also said that you still need to follow the TikTok users you want to message.
But, there's still a chance to message them since it will depend on their settings if the people who don't follow them can slide into their DM. If you want to send a message to someone you don't follow, here's what they need to do:
- Go to Me.
- Click the three-do symbol, which is located in the top right corner.
- Select Privacy > Who can send me direct messages.
- Choose Everyone, Friends, or No one.
