Rumors around the iPhone 13 lineup hints release date will fall around the same cycle as with its predecessor and reportedly have one of Samsung's flagship features.

Apple's upcoming flagship series is also speculated to come with a smaller display notch, a larger battery, and more.

iPhone 13 Release Date, Price, and Production Rumors

Tom's Guide speculates that the iPhone 13 release date may fall on September 2021, following the pattern for Apple's previous flagship phone launches.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is always known to get the main details on point, backs up this speculation.

Kuo foresees that iPhone 13 models will not face the same challenges as its predecessor; hence production will return to its normal cycle.

Apple is also rumored to be ramping up the iPhone 13's production, targeting to build 25% more than the iPhone 12.

The iPhone 13 range may only have a handset trio thanks to iPhone 12 mini's poor sales performance.

Additionally, CNET pins the price for iPhone 13 line up to be around the same range as that of the iPhone 12 models, citing the former's expected minor technical upgrade.

iPhone 13, Or Is It? What Will Apple's Next Flagship Be Called?

Due to the taboo surrounding the infamous number 13, CNET believes that Apple's next flagship product line may skip this number altogether.

CNET's Saturday, March 20 report speculates that Apple may instead name the next product line as iPhone 12s.

The addition of the letter "s" at the end of the model number would mark Apple's return to form, which implies that the "s" versions are similar to its predecessor plus a few key improvements.

Apple previously switched between releasing a new model number and then an "s" version of that same phone the following year.

The pattern seemed to have ended in 2015 when Apple released the iPhone 6s.

iPhone 13 Design Changes, Rumored Assist from Samsung

On Tuesday, March 23, MacRumors reported that the iPhone 13 models would receive a smaller notch and its earpiece moved to its top bezel.

The design choice was first rumored to happen on the iPhone 12 models, which we now know had failed to materialize.

The smaller notch is said to be the result of consolidating a few Face ID components, namely the sensor, dot projector, and the separated infrared flood illuminator, into a single module.

Additionally, the new iPhone may be a bit thicker, hinting that it may come with a bigger, higher-capacity battery.

The iPhone 13 is also rumored to sport a portless design, relying on its wireless feature for data transfer and charging.

The rumor comes after Apple opted to remove the bundled charger in its iPhone 12 lineup.

Lastly, an iPhone leak revealed by Tom's Guide on Tuesday, March 23, confirms that the iPhone 13 will feature Galaxy 21's 120Hz variable refresh rate display.

The LTPO panel technology, which allows the screen to automatically vary its refresh rate, has been Samsung's secret weapon against the iPhone lineup.

This time around, Samsung Display is rumored to be fulfilling orders for the new panels exclusively made for iPhone.
