The mobile and desktop app was developed to solve the existing challenges of training and managing restaurant and service staff. Furthermore, Yelli was created by a waitress who wanted to make life better and easier for restaurant workers. The simple and intuitive app starts by requiring managers to upload the relevant details about their restaurants such as location, store hours, and menu. Then they can start adding members to their teams, and Yelli will offer options that would help managers and their staff simplify their work.

As an app created by a waitress for the restaurant industry, it has a variety of features specifically designed to help its users streamline restaurant processes:

  • All-Staff Alerts. Allows managers to alert the entire team with just one click, making communication easier for better service standards.
  • Streamlined Communication. Both managers and servers enjoy clear communication with in-app instant messaging and quick access to team member information.
  • Organized Restaurant Details. From uniform requirements of the restaurant to actual table numbers, even allergy guidelines, and safety policies, Yelli collects all the important details in one place - available for everyone to access anytime, anywhere.
  • Menu Testing. Managers can easily improve menu knowledge just by using Yelli and its auto-generated food and drink menu testing features.
  • Track Employee Training. Onboarding is made easier as new hires automatically receive their training schedules, with the team leaders having easy access to their progress and profiles.
  • Real-Time Notifications. Anytime the restaurant portal is updated, all team members are notified. This eliminates the need for redundant meetings and messy email threads.

The Story Behind Yelli

On the Yelli app website, developers of the mobile and desktop app share how the concept began in 2019 with its founder, Danielle Casilio, working as a waitress in Los Angeles. With her experience in the industry across the US, she was now used to adapting to varying setups, from dive bars to fine-dining restaurants. With her knack for organization, Danielle often found herself in charge of training programs and the organization of front-of-house operations. She then created Yelli: focused on simplicity, modernized organization, training, and communication for the restaurant industry.

"I started Yelli because I knew that if restaurants were able to simplify their training program and communicate quicker, not only would the lives of the staff members improve, but the guest experience would be much better as well," Casilio recalls in a statement.
