There is a possibility of the new Super GPUs that Nvidia is currently developing for next year's line-up, if you believe the rumors currently roaming around.

Laptops Get it First

VideoCardz was first to report about a leaker @greymon55 on Twitter. However, they might not be as credible as you might think since the user is relatively new to social media and has only a few followers compared to more famous leakers.

However, some rumors also solidify his claim regarding the Super GPUs.

The website has also said that this aligns with another supposed leak in the presented roadmap from Lenovo that was published previously. The roadmap, if it is true, showed the RTX 3080 Super and RTX 3070 Super mobile graphics cards released for Lenovo laptops.

The laptop that would come with the Super GPU line-up is said to be the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme G4. In theory, it will be able to support either the RTX 3070 Super with 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM, or the RTX 3080 Super with 16GB of GDDR6.

Nvidia's GPU Still Unknown

There have been corroborated rumors about the 3080 Super mobile variant saying that Nvidia might get an upgrade on its processor.

The GA104 GPU is currently being used in the standard RTX 3080 notebook and that an upgrade should be needed.

The upgrade is because the GA104 is already being pushed to its limits by the RTX 3080 mobile, and to have a Super variant involved would bottleneck the GPU and not showcase its true potential. Others are still skeptical about the project, however.

Another hardware leaker kopite7kimi says that the GA103 GPU is now most likely canceled.

Regardless of which rumor is to be believed, given the current condition of component shortages, delays are definitely going to be a possible hindrance for future components for RTX Super laptop graphic cards and the like.

Nvidia RTX 3080 variants

Recent news is comparing the differences between the Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti against the vanilla Nvidia RTX 3080 variant. When the Super variant comes out, it will most likely have the same performance as the two given that it's intended for laptops instead of PCs.

Tests show that the RTX 3080 Ti is in the lead when it comes to extensive games but also uses a higher power consumption, which you'd need a better PSU to handle. Both the 3080 and 3080 Ti can handle native 4k games with high frame rates if the DLSS is deactivated

You'd only want to get a 3080 Ti if you have the budget and care about getting the best GPU in the market right now.

The vanilla 3080 still is a powerful GPU and offers better value compared to its Ti variant. As for the 3080 Super and 3070 Super, we will just need to wait and see if it could be on par with even the vanilla version of the 3080 and 3070.
