Huawei P50 Pro 5G is still possibly seeing the light of day in 2021, even after the Chinese phone maker launched the P50 series without the next-gen connectivity feature.

Also, the rumored P50 Pro+ with a larger 6.6-inch display is likewise likely to come, says a leaker/tipster.

The new reports came after Huawei unveiled its new Huawei P50 and the top-of-the-line Pro without any support for the super-fast next-generation connectivity of a 5G internet.

Instead, the two new flagships will both sport a 4G chipset from Qualcomm.

Huawei P50 Pro and 5G

As per CNBC, the latest move to launch their flagship devices without 5G further shows that the trade ban against Huawei in the United States, which occurred during the reign of former U.S. President Donald Trump, still affects the Chinese phone maker.

The Washington restrictions prevented manufacturers outside the U.S., which used technology from the country, to sell their tech to Hauwei without any permit.

It happens even as the Chinese conglomerate touts itself as the leader in the 5G technology and communication, as per the CEO of Huawei, Richard Yu.

However, the Huawei exec blamed the U.S. restrictions, which have been imposed for two years already. As such, the latest devices of the tech giant could only settle with a 4G connection.

That said, Yu further claimed that both 4G and Wifi 6 are already okay for the daily use of its users--albeit its staunch promotion of the China-based titan for 5G.

Huawei P50 Pro Chip Shortage

Aside from the ill effects of the U.S. restrictions, Huawei is also experiencing the wrath of the worldwide chip shortage together with other tech companies.

If you have not been aware of it yet, the supply shortage of semiconductors is primarily triggered by the COVID-19 lockdowns and movement restrictions. The coronavirus shut down factories of the chips, as well as increased the demand for the components.

Thus, the Huawei CEO admitted that the performance of both the P50 and its Pro variant is slightly slower in performance.

Even so, the Chinese conglomerate vowed that these devices "still maintain the ultimate performance."

Huawei P50 Pro 5G, Huawei P50 Pro+

GizChina reported that a leaker and tipster that goes by the name Digital Chat Station predicted that a P50 Pro with 5G support carrying a Kirin 9000 processor is still likely to happen.

However, the P50 Pro sporting the Snapdragon 888 will only have a 4G model.

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that even the recently launched Huawei P50 Pro is yet to release in September. That said, the news outlet further added that the Huawei P50 Pro 5G is likely to debut in the latter part of 2021.

The leaker also hinted at the release of the rumored Huawei P50 Pro+, but there are no further details about it yet.
