"CS:GO," otherwise known as "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive," is undoubtedly one of the best and most popular first-person multiplayer shooter games out there. It has been nearly 10 years since its release, but both the game and its developer, Valve, are showing no signs of slowing down.

If you are only about to try playing for the first time or if you have not played in years, there are a couple of maps on "CS:GO" that are perfect for beginners or those who want to practice. Read on to find out what these maps are!

'CS:GO': What is It?

Before we get to that, however, let us first explain what "CS:GO" is for those who are not really familiar with it just yet.

As previously mentioned, "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" is a multiplayer first-person shooter game released in 2012 by Valve. The game is playable on Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

"CS:GO" is also considered as an example of an esports game.

Essentially, players get to be part of one of two teams: the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists. The general goal of most of the maps of "CS:GO" is for the Terrorists to successfully plant a bomb and for the Counter-Terrorists to defuse it.

There are maps that involve hostages and the goal of the Counter-Terrorists is to rescue the hostages from the Terrorists.

'CS:GO' Maps for Beginners

"CS:GO" can seem rather intimidating for a newbie player but the game does have beginner-friendly maps. These same maps are also perfect for non-first timers who just want to practice before trying out more complicated maps.

Cache

Gamepur calls this map "a match made in heaven for starting players" with good reason. Cache's layout makes it easy for players to practice different play styles.

The map also has connectors such as vents that can be favorable for those who prefer to be more stealthy in an attempt to win a round. This also means that opponents can come from many different directions, making it perfect for those who want to get used to this kind of an environment.

Dust II

According to an article by Dot Esports, Dust II is considered "the most popular map in all first-person shooters." A YouTuber named WarOwl even has a quote about it that is very popular among gamers and "CS" fans who like to quote him in videos and on forums like Reddit

"If you can make a custom map for it, there is a Dust2," WarOwl once said.

Dot Esports considers the layout balance of this popular "CS:GO" map to be "polished" as it prevents teams from getting an upper hand at the start of every round.

Mirage

Mirage is probably one of the easy-to-learn maps in "CS:GO" due to its layout.

According to an article by Squad State, Mirage has three lanes, which does not give any advantage to either team. Per the article, it is also a good map to practice map control and rotations.

Ready to Play 'CS:GO' Now?

If you are ready to try out "CS:GO," you have impeccable timing. A new patch has just arrived for the game as announced by the "CS:GO" website.

As far as maps are concerned, this patch has quite a lot to offer. Maps such as Dust II, Inferno, and Ancient are on the receiving end of some changes.

A new map called County has been added to official matchmaking in Danger Zone game mode, while two maps, Basalt and Insertion II, have been added to the official matchmaking in Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch game modes.

As for the Wingman game mode, two maps have been added to official matchmaking. These are Ravine and Extraction.

If there are maps that have been added, there are also those that have been removed from official matchmaking. These are Grind, Mocha, Pitstop, Calavera, and Frostbite.
