Tinder now lets you do more than swipe left and right with a new virtual blind date feature to increase your match based on impressions stemming from conversations.

Tinder's New Virtual Blind Date Feature

Tinder may be a modern way to find your significant other, but its new feature dates back to the traditional way; a blind date.

The popular dating site is reviving the idea of blind dates with its latest feature launching on February 10.

But unlike the older days, you won't be meeting face-to-face with your date. Rather, using a social chat function, you can strike a conversation with someone blindly, meaning you have no idea who you're talking to before viewing each other's profiles.

By allowing Tinder users to gauge their first impressions of one another based on perceived personality and how the conversation went-rather than photos-the feature is geared toward strengthening relationships between people.

According to Tinder, "Blind Date gives the daters of today a low-pressure way to put their personality first and find a match they truly vibe with."

Tinder believes that millennials value authenticity. Therefore, this dating experience taps into nostalgic moments handed out by pre-smartphone dating combined with a reflection of modern date-seeking habits.

Early testing showed that Tinder users who used the Blind Date feature made 40% more matches than those using another Fast Chat feature.

As recalled, Tinder asks you a few questions when you begin Fast Chat so that it can match you with people who answered the same questions as you.

Now, the astounding 40% increase in matches demonstrates Tinder users' willingness to communicate, and of course, match with someone they might have missed in another setting.

How to Use Tinder's Blind Date Feature?

The blind date feature works like this; first, a short series of icebreaker questions will pair Tinder users based on their common interests.

Following this, members will enter a timed chat, not knowing anything about the person on the other side of the screen other than their answers to the multiple-choice questions.

After the timer expires, they can like the profile, which will be shown if the profiles match, or they can choose to get paired with someone new.

Tinder's Vice President of Product Innovation, Kyle Miller, said that Blind Date introduces people's personalities through conversation, without the preconceived notions that can come with photos.

Plus, it allows you to impress and connect with potential dates through banter-based interactions.

You can find Blind Date in Explore, a new section on Tinder. The Explore platform allows users to view profiles that have been arranged according to interests, which is similar to the real-world preferences we all have in where we go to meet someone new.

As of right now, Tinder users in the U.S. can now use the Blind Date feature, while worldwide users will get it soon.
