Prominent Leaker Showed How They Almost Maxed Out 512GB Storage in Just a Week

Although 512GB seems like a lot, the standard is slowly fading. A certain leaker showed how they were able to almost fully fill up their 512GB storage in almost just a week.

The adoption of 1TB Storage Uses In the Modern Day

A few years ago, having 1TB of storage used to seem like overkill but recently, the standard has slowly become a norm with the help of cloud storage to make up for the lack of physical storage in certain devices.

A certain leaker on Twitter showed how they were able to almost fill up their device in just a week with a breakdown of where the memory went. As seen on the picture they tweeted out, the largest amount of storage went to videos with the apps following at second place.

What was the Storage Breakdown for the Device?

As seen on the screenshot, 219 GB went to videos which although might have been extremely big in the past due to videos only reaching 720p, with 2K to 4K videos becoming more and more popular, videos taking up over 200GB in space seems more possible.

Apps come in second place with 94.81 GB with images following at 90.48 GB. The third to take up the most storage is the device system which is non-negotiable. After systems, the fourth segment to take up the most storage is the "other" segment.

Documents reportedly took up 2.73GB, "Compressed" took up 1.21 GB, Audio took 1.04 GB, installation files took 641 MB with the device's Recycle bin taking up 4.62 MB. To add, it wasn't specified as to what device was being looked at and what model was being used.

512GB of Storage Was More Than Enough for 2021 But What About 2022?

A thread on Quora discussed whether or not having 512 GB storage was enough for 2021. The reactions regarding the thread showed that during that time, 512 GB was enough for 2021 with not much need for the extra storage.

As seen in a comment by Sahil Kasture, 512 GB can be used to download and store 4K and 8K content, can work from 10 to 20 games, can download over 100 applications that are over 1GB per application, and can even hold over 10,000 songs.

Ideal Amount of Storage Remains 128GB

An article by TriggeredReviews, the reason why having a lot of RAM is important is due to how it affects the performance and not just for storage. As per the article, phones should ideally have at least 128GB in storage.

With more storage, the devices will be able to function faster compared to smaller memory devices. The more space is made available, the faster a device functions since the device avoids being overloaded.
