Tesla to Enter the Video Game Business?

According to the story by Electrek, Tesla has reportedly been working on growing its presence when it comes to the video game space. The article notes that the company is actually entering the video game business.

A previous report even revealed that the company already has a software engineering team that are working on video games over in Seattle. The company has also just recently "started building a similar team in Austin."

Company is Working with Video Game Studios to Port Games

Tesla has been working on its very own video game platform known as the Tesla Arcade which is expected to work within its vehicles. In addition, the company has actually been quite serious as it has been working with different video game studios in order to port games onto its computer.

As of the moment, however, the additional games are meant to add value to the whole Tesla ownership experience. The company, however, could have much bigger plans "for gaming inside its vehicles."

Elon Musk: 'Entertainment Will be Critical when Cars Drive Themselves'

The Tesla CEO was even quoted saying "entertainment will be critical when cars drive themselves" which is something that Elon Musk believes is achievable before the end of this year.

To prepare for this, Tesla has started to release more and more video games "in its Tesla Arcade" and even showed signs that it could turn this segment into a business as well. Electrek notes that they have seen indications that the EV company could actually offer paid packages of different games within the vehicles.

Tesla Same Business as Playstation Store, Valve Stream, and Xbox Live Store

This move would then put Tesla into the same business as Playstation Store, Valve's Steam, or even the Xbox Live store. As per a Tweet by Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO announced that the company is now "working to make Steam's library of games work directly on Tesla's software" instead of having to just port specific games.

Within the thread, Elon Musk even shared his goal of making Cyberpunk work on the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck. This would actually require an ample amount of power in order for the game to run due to its heavy graphics.

New Entertainment Computer Built in the Model S and Model X

The company has even launched a new entertainment computer built in the Model S and Model X that is designed more towards video games. In addition, a website by VideoCardz shared the specs of the Tesla Arcade in comparison to other consoles like the PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and even the KFConsole.

When it comes to the list, Tesla actually brings home the bacon when it comes to GPU Clock at 2.44 GHz compared to the PS5 with 2.23 GHz and the other consoles with below 2 GHz.
