DETROIT - JANUARY 14: The Geely logo is shown on the front grill of a Geely vehicle at the 2008 North American International Auto Show at Cobo Center January 14, 2008 in Detroit, Michigan. The NAIAS is the world's largest auto show.

Right now, swapping stations are still having a hard time replacing the batteries of electric vehicles, especially if they are as massive as cement mixers.

But, Geely's new auto swap technology is expected to solve this issue, especially since these new battery swapping stations no longer need to lift the so-called Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs).

According to Electrek's latest report, Geely's new auto swap tech is comparable to those used for passenger EVs.

However, these new swapping stations rely on a different feature that allows them to replace the battery cells of electric cars without actually lifting them from the ground.

As of the moment, these new swapping stations are essential for Geely since it partners with other OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers).

Aside from these, it also has its own vehicles, which also need auto swap stations. Right now, Geely's new battery-replacing tech still hasn't reached the expected cell swap speeds that the company is trying to target.

But, the Chinese automaker said that these new swapping stations are improving one step at a time.

Geely's Subsidiary To Have Self Driving Feature

Motor Authority reported that Geely's subsidiary, Zeekr, is now testing a new self-driving feature developed by Waymo. This car function will be integrated into the electric shuttle of the automaker.

As of the moment, the vehicles of Zeekr still rely on Chrysler Pacifica minivans and Jaguar I-Pace crossovers. These cars still need a human driver to operate.

But, once the test for Waymo's self-driving feature, the new electric shuttle of Zeekr will be able to drive without the presence of drivers.

In other news, Tesla Model Y vehicles in China is are now becoming more in-demand. Meanwhile, Subaru's WRX STI shuts down its gas-engine operations for good.
