Twitter is now adding a new feature to its platform. With the new feature, users will finally be able to look for messages within their DMs.

In fact, all the user needs is the right keyword to find specific messages among their DMs.

Twitter Released DM Search Update Allowing Users to Search for Messages

According to a Twitter announcement, the DM search now has what is said to be a big upgrade. Twitter described the new update as allowing users to easily scan the content of their conversation in order to look for specific messages that include whatever "keyword" users are using to search.

This means that instead of having to search for the name of the user and scan all messages in order to find a specific one, users will now be able to easily just search for whatever keyword they want to find.

Old Feature Still Works

According to the story by The Verge, unlike before when the whole conversation had to be backread, they can now easily search for the conversation through using particular keyword that will help distinguish a certain message.

However, does not mean that the old way of searching will not work anymore. Users will still be able to search for certain users and browse through the conversation like they used to do.

Twitter DM Search Update Took a While

With the new upgrade to Twitter DM searches, users will be able to find all the content that relates to the keyword that they use to search with.

This means that should a keyword be a name of a person and a conversation that took place with another person, both of them would show up on the DM search.

According to The Verge, however, the feature "has been a long time coming."

Twitter Searches for Android and iOS

The first time DM search for Android was brought to Twitter was actually back in May. The platform noted that content search would have come last year but with the new feature only releasing now, this means Twitter might have just missed their deadline.

Luckily for Apple users, however, Twitter DM searches were long available for iOS for about two years before the platform ever added the feature to Android. The Verge's report notes that they tested out the feature to see if it would function better on the browser version, Android, or iOS.

According to the report, although it is still capable of looking for old messages, the Twitter DM search does not seem to be able to show all of the older messages coming from 2020 or earlier. Messages coming from 2019 or earlier, did not show up.
