A new Apple patent discusses that the next-gen AirPods can offer sound streaming without the need of placing them close to your face.

As PatentlyApple wrote earlier, Cupertino has filed a patent regarding the smart audio device that will allow you to enjoy the music without interrupting the real-world sounds that you need to hear.

Apparently, most audio equipment nowadays does not showcase such capability. Either way, people plug in earbuds or headsets next to their hearing part to feel the acoustic wave passing through their ears.

It's worth pointing out that there is a downside to using this kind of audio technology. There are times that you can't hear ambient noises in the environment since your ears are only limited to the sounds coming from your smartphone or any gadget.

Of course, many people are aware of the active noise-canceling feature that is useful in communication jobs. These headphones or headsets could right away prevent you from listening to other sounds that do not come from the device.

It should be noted as well that for the part of AirPods users, it's quite a hassle to remove the wearable device at a time. However, with the recent Apple patent, it appears that this issue will be resolved soon.

What the 'Ear-Free AirPods' Offer

In another article from Slash Gear, the patent clearly tackles that the upcoming AirPods can now send sounds to your ears without requiring you to wear them next to your face. It's a pretty interesting invention given that you can still listen to the minute sounds without attaching the device to your ear.

For a more technical part, it's quite unbelievable to imagine at first glance, but Apple thinks that this invention is feasible to produce. Just visualize the audio sunglasses and you can conclude the gist of this patent.

However, there's a big difference here. The sound could travel from a distance whether it will begin from other parts of your body or a foreign object such as a pillow.

The patent mentioned that there will be a special set of speakers that will bounce back the sound waves to the ears. The so-called process "beamforming" could likely function as a "directional mic," but in this case, it's for the AirPods.

Nevertheless, this patent has a long way to go for the users who want to use it in the future. For those who don't watch to be detached from the sounds of nature, then this Apple wearable is perfect for you.
