Tesla is just a few weeks or months away (no specific timeframe given) from opening up its Supercharger network to owners of all kinds of electric vehicles in the United Kingdom. With that, this opens up the Supercharge network to owners of not just the Tesla EV but other EVs as well.

Tesla is Set to Open Up Its Supercharger Network to All Other EVs

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport announced that Tesla opened up its Supercharger network to all EVs. To add, reports have been growing over the years of the company increasing its efforts to open up the company's Supercharger network.

As per the piling reports, Tesla has long been in the works of opening up its Supercharger network to owners of other electric vehicles. With that, Tesla's Supercharger network is the company's extensive global network composed of fast-charging stations.

Tesla Started Opening Up Its Supercharger Network in the Netherlands to Non-Tesla EV Owners

According to the story by Electrek, back in November 2021, Tesla already started making moves in that particular direction with a pilot program opening 10 different Supercharger stations in the Netherlands to non-Tesla EV owners as long as they use the Tesla app.

Upon announcing the company's new pilot program, the company stated that it plans to test the experience for non-Tesla users through the network slowly. It was also noted that the company expects increased traffic to take place at the charging stations.

Tesla Expects to See More Stations to Service Non-Tesla Owners in France and Norway

At the start of the year, Tesla announced that the program expects to see more stations service non-Tesla users in France and Norway. Recently, the company decided to open up all stations to non-Tesla users in the Netherlands instead of just a number of them.

After expansions in the Netherlands, Telsa hasn't been making any moves as it says the company is still gathering additional data on how the move to open up their network to other EVs would affect its performance.

The U.K. Sees an Increase in EV Sales Over the Course of 2021 with Tesla Leading

In an interview with Electrifying.com, a UK Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport, Trudy Harrison, said that Tesla recognizes that they are included in the solution, which pushes them to move their timeline to just weeks or months instead of years.

However, the government official did not give specifics regarding Tesla's timing as per the expansion of the program. Electrek reports that the exact same thing was seen with the Ministry of Transport in Norway before the Supercharger stations were opened by Tesla to users of other EVs.

The U.K. has seen an increase in EV sales over the course of 2021, with the company leading. The company said that they plan to use their revenue from owners of other electric vehicles through the network expansion to other stations.

As per CNN, Tesla shares have skyrocketed by 43% after hitting a 36% low of $766.37. As per sales forecast, the company is expected to not hit its target of 2 million cars, according to tech analyst at Webush Securities Dan Ives, after only selling 936,000 cars in 2021.
