Samsung has dropped its Android update support for all of its Galaxy S9 smartphones, such as the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+.

Samsung Galaxy S9
As per a news story by 9to5Google, both devices were the flagship phones of the South Korean phone maker long ago in 2018.
The S9 lineup was released way back in March 2018 to succeed in the successful run of the Galaxy S8 series.
In the same year, Samsung also released another flagship series, which is known for its built-in stylus and larger display, the Galaxy Note 9.
It is worth noting that the South Korean tech giant has continued to support the Galaxy S9 smartphones since its debut a couple of years ago.
Samsung Ends Galaxy S9 Android Support
However, as it turns out after four years have passed, Samsung is now officially ending its Android update support for its Galaxy S9 flagships.
According to a recent report by Droid-Life, Samsung has updated its mobile security page, wherein both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are now nowhere to be found on the list.
The news outlet noted that the latest move of the phone maker parallels its promise to provide its users with up to four years of software support.
In fact, the predecessors of the Samsung Galaxy S9 series, namely the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S8, also received the same timeline, wherein the tech giant ended its software support after four years had passed since their release.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Series Update Change

Meanwhile, Samsung has also brought change to the successor of the Galaxy S9 phones, the S10 series. The latter now follows a quarterly update release, rather than the monthly rollout.
Galaxy S21, S22
On the other hand, Samsung has already committed to extending its Android software support for its more recent smartphone offerings, such as the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy S22.

The newer flagships of the phone maker now have up to five years of Android update support. That said, both the S21 and the S22 phones still have a couple of years before it becomes obsolete like the S9 series.
