New Mac Mini reportedly appeared in the latest Studio Display firmware update file, which contained a code that hints at a potential new Apple device.

It is worth noting that the all-new Apple Studio Display sports an A13 Bionic chip, mostly found on iPhones and iPads, even if it is actually an external display.

NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 30: Tim Cook, CEO of Apple unveils a new Mac Mini during a launch event at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on October 30, 2018 in New York City. Apple also debuted a new MacBook Air.

The Apple-made chip powers the Studio Display to make some of its advanced features possible, such as the Spatial Audio and the image processing for its web camera.

New Mac Mini Leak and Studio Display Update

The new Apple external monitor also comes with a tweaked version of its mobile operating system, iOS. In turn, the Studio Display receives firmware updates from time to time-like how iPhones and iPads work.

This time around, as per a news story by 9to5Mac, the latest firmware update for the Studio Display hints at a possible upcoming Mac Mini.

The special iOS version update contained a code in its file, which loosely suggests that Apple is working on a new Mac, specifically the Mini, which could see the light of day anytime soon.

Thanks to the discovery of developer, Steve Troughton-Smith, there is now evidence, which could suggest that an unannounced Mac Mini is coming our way.

According to a recent report by ArsTechnica, the developer saw a "Macmini10,1" model identifier straight beneath the firmware update file of the Studio Display.

The model identifier from the Studio Display update likely implies that the Cupertino-tech giant is currently testing a new iteration of the Mac mini.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple unveils a new Mac Mini during a special event at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Howard Gilman Opera House October 30, 2018, in New York.

It comes as Apple refers to the current version of the compact-sized machine as "Macmini9,1."

On the other hand, the last Mac Mini that still features an Intel chip way back in 2018 carries a "Macmini8,1" identifier.

So, if it is still not clear by now, the sighting of the "Macmini10,1" model identifier from the Studio Display update could likely refer to a next-generation Mac Mini.

People walk past an Apple store in Beijing on December 11, 2018. - Apple stores in China continued with business as usual on December 11, despite a Chinese court-ordered ban on iPhone sales that could hurt the US tech firm in one of its most crucial markets.

However, the next-generation Mac Mini, and other Mac offerings, are expected to transition to a new rumored Apple M2 chip this 2022, replacing the 2020 M1 processor.

Troughton-Smith further added that the new Mac Mini is more likely to sport a new M2 chip than an M1 Pro upgrade.
