How Many Robotech Seasons  Are There?

There are many Robotechs out there from mangas to movies, and it could be overwhelming, but hold your horses because the most vital important part of the franchise lies of course in its original cartoon which premiered in 1985 and lasted with 85 episodes.

The series revolves on one epic story but it is still divided up into three main arcs, firstly the Macross saga, secondly the Masters saga, and lastly the New Generation saga.

The Very First Saga

It all started when a giant alien spaceship crash-landed on planet Earth, with great precaution and worry, humanity uses its technology called protoculture to protect the population from possible alien attacks. This particularly includes the Veritechs, who are jet fighters with the ability to transform into humanoid mech, and the spaceship SDF-1.

When huge aliens called the Zentraedi came to Earth to bring back their space ship, the stunt Pilot Rick Hunter unexpectedly gets drawn into an interstellar war and a love triangle between SDF officer Lisa Hayes and darling pop star Lynn Minmei. Talk about epicness!

The Macross Saga really started out strong with its exciting narratives, rest assured that the first saga will not bore you to death but will keep you binging for more episodes!

Defending the Earth

The Masters Saga will a take an even bigger turn when the Zentraedi join forces with humanity, and their Masters also landed on Earth with a huge armada to capture the galaxy's only source of protoculture. It will be up to Dana Sterling, daughter of two Veritech aces from the Macross Saga, to protect Earth from the Master's assault and she will find out an interesting history on protoculture!

The spoilers must stop because this will be up for you to find out more!

The Ultimate Mission to Free Humanity

The New Generation Saga is perhaps the most exciting saga and everything that ensues will be pure epicness. When the alien species called Invid invades and takes over the Earth to steal protoculture for themselves and when the Robotech Expeditionary Force were destroyed after their ultimate mission of freeing humanity, survivor Scott Bernard organizes a team of freedom fighters to defeat the Invid and save planet Earth.

Where to Watch?

Robotech is anything that is classic. It is an American 80's cartoon, 80's mecha anime, and a classic reminder on how America has adapted anime. It highlighted mature storytelling while still toning down the violence to make it more appropriate for children.

The three sagas of the original cartoon, the 1986 sequel Robotech II: The Sentinels, and the 2007 Shadow Chronicles movie are all available for streaming in the Funimation streaming service. You can also rent them in Prime Video, iTunes, and Vudu.
