Apple launched its self-repair program for selected models of the iPhone last week, and it brings a chance for users to access and open up their devices and do the fix on their own. However, it did not turn out the way some envisioned it to be, as mistakes were made along the way, with the repair program granting access to amateurs and self-service enthusiasts.

Mac Rumors reported that it tried to fix an iPhone 12 Mini by one of its staff, and it turned out to be a challenging activity for the self-repair program to change the device's battery. The staff that tried the self-repair program is not that much of a DIYer or "handyman," and it is somehow a fair representation of most people that own these devices.

For an inexperienced person doing these replacements, it would be challenging and frustrating at the same time. Despite the 70-pound hardware that Apple recommends using, the repair kit is still something that will provide a difficult time for a person, with a time frame of one week to complete the repair and send back the equipment to Apple.

Reports Claim Hardship in Fixing iPhone

Apple's self-repair program is somehow a "do at your own risk" setup, as further damage or mistakes made while doing so will have the company not liable for it. Apple brings a complete set for its self-repair via the store, or users may opt for parts alone to save up on the venture.

Regardless of the tools provided, the hardships in fixing an iPhone show for inexperienced users, and it may be better to bring it to Apple Authorized Service Providers.

Apple and Self Repair

Apple and self-repair are two things that users did not hope to hear anytime now, especially as the company previously insisted that it focus on AASPs to bring the repairs for them. However, people do not want to bring their devices and wait for an extended period to get their battery replaced or have minor inconveniences have its fix when they can do it themselves.

It brought the company to offer the Apple Self-Repair program store ultimately, an idea conceived last year and bloomed only days ago to get the service to the public.

Now, users can freely buy parts and have its instruction manual available to them at any given time and have their devices fixed by themselves, friends, or family without the long wait. However, the challenge now is to navigate through the devices' internal parts, some are more delicate than others, and one wrong move renders them unusable.

DIYers rejoiced when Apple launched the self-repair program, and that is because they could be hands-on with their device. The situation now only shows that not all are accustomed to doing the repairs independently and might need assistance from service professionals authorized by the Apple company.
