Facebook, already assured of becoming one of the most valuable US firms when it goes public later this month, now must convince investors in the next two weeks that it is worth all the hype.

This means that academic researchers, journalists, and other experts can know more about how these kinds of ads are strategized before they are delivered on Facebook.

"Instead of analyzing how an ad was delivered by Facebook, it's really going and looking at an advertiser strategy for what they were trying to do," said Jeff King, Meta's Vice President of Business Integrity, via CNA

Meta To Disclose Facebook Political Ad Data

According to US News' latest report, Meta will integrate political and social-issue ads data into its so-called "Facebook Open Research and Transparency" database, which academic researchers use.

For the past few years, Meta and other online tech firms have always been pressured when it comes to disclosing their advertisements as people want more transparency.

Back in 2018, Facebook's owner decided to launch the public ad library. However, it was criticized by experts because it has annoying glitches.

Aside from this, they also claim that the information provided by the ad library is not enough. Now, the latest ad data disclosure is expected to offer more information about electoral, social issues, and political ads that are running on the social media platform.

Pressures Experienced by Meta, Other Tech Firms

Recently, a new bill forcing Meta and other tech firms to change how they run their ad businesses was confirmed.

The Competition and Transparency in Digital Advertising Act is expected to prevent companies, generating around $20 billion a year in digital ad transactions, from running more than one portion of the digital ad ecosystem.

This new bill is expected to impact Meta, Google, and other tech giant firms relying on advertisements to generate income. You can visit this link to see more details.

On the other hand, Meta is expected to launch a new Facebook physical store to promote metaverse.

Previously, an Amazon exec claimed that the metaverse is only a distraction for Mark Zuckerberg.
