Joby Aviation already received what it has been waiting for in its operations and testing of its aircraft. It has finally received the highly coveted FAA approval for its air taxi service focusing on its eVTOLs.
The world is already seeing several eVTOL ventures come to life. Still, not all are adapting the air taxis yet as regulators look into many factors before it becomes a regular service.
Joby Aviation Gets FAA Approval for Air Taxis
Joby Aviation announced that it has already received its much-awaited FAA approval, giving them the capability and freedom to employ its air taxi service around places that it is eligible for. The company said that its approval is directed towards its eVTOL operations that would start soon, but not immediately for the world to see.
The Federal Aviation Authority gave Joby Aviation a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate that would allow the company to begin its on-demand commercial air taxi operations. The only difference it has with other commercial airlines that get this certification is that Joby's focus would be localized to aircraft in the metro, focusing primarily on massive cities.

No Air Taxis Yet, When is It Starting?
There are no air taxi services yet and it is because Joby said that its ride-hailing features will arrive by 2024. This means that it would have to be more or less a two-year wait for those wanting to try the eVTOL.
Joby said that its approval was earlier than expected, and the company did not expect such an early schedule for it.
Nevertheless, it will soon employ its eVTOL for the world to experience.
Joby Aviation's eVTOL
Electric air taxi is another step into development and better transportation options as they would focus on clean energy to transport people from one place to another. However, it is not the only perk available for all, as it would give people a chance to avoid the on-ground traffic as the eVTOL would zoom in the air and avoid the long line of cars.
Companies like Joby Aviation are testing out their eVTOLs for electric air taxis, and the company boasts of its capabilities and soon ventures to bring a new experience for all. However, the only downside to this mode of transportation is that most only carry a short range to travel, as it still has short battery life spans compared to electric cars.
It needs to power its propellers and fins from the battery power that would take more energy than a car powering its drivetrains.
Now, there is an FAA approval, and it only signifies that Joby Aviation can move forward immediately and have it available for its transportation use in the present. However, there are no announcements on when its air taxi service will happen, and Joby Aviation did not clarify which regions or areas will receive the said ride-hailing service.
