Last month George Lucas shocked fanboys everywhere when he announced he had yet to watch the trailer for J.J. Abram's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, saying he was waiting to watch the trailer in theaters.

Well, Lucas finally managed to make it to a theater to watch the trailer. What did he think about the future of Star Wars? Did he like it?

"Yeah, it was intriguing," was his response to Pagesix when asked about his impressions.

He told the USA Today while promoting his new animated film Strange Magic that his biggest regret in making Star Wars was that he never got to experience the magic himself.

"The only thing I really regret about Star Wars is the fact I never got to see it - I never got to be blown out of my seat when the ship came over the screen," Lucas told USA Today. "The next one, I'll be able to enjoy it like anybody else."

Now that Lucas is no longer making Star Wars, he will also have time to work on smaller, personal films. He says he is currently writing two new features that likely won't be shown publicly, if they are ever finished.

"The way [the films] are, they're not really movies that can be released," Lucas tells Hero Complex. "They're movies more for myself and maybe I'll show them to some of my friends. It costs more to put them out there than it does to make ‘em. These are movies that are never going to make any money or anything."

Considering Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney for $4 billion, money isn't really an issue for Lucas. The films will be a throwback to the kind of projects Lucas worked on while attending the University of Southern California, long before the success of Star Wars catapulted him to stardom.

"They're like things I did in school or movies I produced, like ‘Koyaanisqatsi,' ‘Powaqqatsi,' things like that," Lucas says. "But it's different because they're dramatic films. It's very hard to explain because it's never been done yet."

That's Lucas for you. Let's just keep in mind that the last film project Lucas worked on was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Actually, perhaps it would be better if we forget about that.
