By now we've all seen the Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens trailer approximately 20 times (or more). We've seen parodies and recreations of all sorts, ranging from the entire trailer being remade in Grand Theft Auto V to a special George Lucas edition. But what would The Force Awakens teaser trailer look like if J.J. Abrams and company were forced to make the latest chapter of the Star Wars saga on a shoestring budget?

Probably something like this, or in other words, they would use lots of cardboard boxes and homemade sound effects. After all, cardboard armor can't be much worse than what Stormtroopers normally wear. Check out the shot-for-shot low-budget recreation of the trailer below.

The video comes from YouTube channel Dumb Drum, which has "sweded" The Force Awakens trailer. Sweding is a term used for low-budget recreations of pop-culture films using a camcorder. Dumb Drum has definitely stayed true to the definition. Everything from the desert sand dunes seen in the trailer to the Millennium Falcon itself are made up of cardboard. Every laser heard in the trailer is replaced with a person making "pew pew" sounds. And the speeder ridden by one of the film's female leads gets a low-tech downgrade in the form of a bicycle.

All in all it's an impressive recreation, and just goes to show how excited fans are for the return of Star Wars. So excited, in fact, that if a "sweded" version of the film were to be released ahead of the multi-million dollar budget version, legions of fans (including myself) would probably line up to see it.
