When Fisker Inc. announced the arrival of its new zero-emission SUV model, EV critics said that the carmaker will launch the new Ocean SUV this coming July 2023.

However, Los Angeles-based automotive designer said that the production of its new SUV model will start as early as 2022. He shared this detail during Fisker Inc.'s Annual Shareholder's Meeting.

"Everybody else is announcing delays and we have not announced any delay, and I don't expect we will. We are on time," said Henrik during the virtual event.

According to Electrek's latest report, the alleged 2022 Ocean SUV production is quite unusual since other giant electric carmakers are delaying the arrival of their new zero-emission vehicles, such as Tesla Cybertruck.

The CEO said that its long-term agreement with the contract manufacturer, Magna International, will make it happen.

He further shared that the efforts made by Magna will allow them to start producing the new Ocean SUV units during the ongoing global supply chain issues.

Aside from the early production activity, Henrik also said that although other EV makers already launched their first round of electric car models, none of them are "out of this world."

He claims that once the Ocean SUV arrives, the auto industry consumers will definitely have something unique.

What To Expect From Ocean SUV

Car and Driver previously provided the possible features of the new Fisker Ocean electric SUV. When it comes to power, it is expected to have around 275 horsepower. 

This will allow the new zero-emission car to achieve 0-60 mph in less than seven seconds. On the other hand, the Ocean Ultra and Extreme are expected to be faster and more powerful than the base model. 

Both of these high-tier versions can reach 60 mph in less than four seconds.

On the other hand, Fisker is also expected to integrate its Intelligent Pilot tech, the company's own driver-assistance system, to make the experience of Ocean drivers safer.
