Capcom is dropping support for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 for the popular "Resident Evil 3" game. From now on, players will only be able to play the title on Windows 10 and later operating systems.

'Resident Evil 3' Changes System Requirements to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and 8

As per a statement, after installing the upgrade patch, the Steam version of "Resident Evil 3" will only be available on Windows 10. Aside from the changes in operating system requirements, the DirectX and graphical requirements have also changed a lot as well.

According to Tech Radar, Capcom noted that people that want to continue playing the current version of the game should opt for the option to "Go Offline" whenever the game boots up. The company also gave a warning to gamers saying once the game is updated, players will no longer be able to install the previous version.

Players Warned that Uninstalling the Game Won't Work

This means that even uninstalling the game won't bring players back to the previous version of the game. To add, players that buy the game with an attached DRM always run "the risk of delisting or... applying unwanted patches."

Gamers with older operating systems are now left with two options, either upgrade their systems or stop playing the game. Players with either Windows 10 or Windows 11, however, have nothing to worry about when it comes to the operating system.

Systems Requirements Changed in Terms of DirectX and Graphics Cards

When it comes to graphical requirements and DirectX, however, players will have to have a Direct X Version 12 and at least an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX 460.

Some gamers, however, believe that the change is an important part of PC gaming. This is especially since PC games, as per the article, are still cheaper compared to the console version of the game.

How to Turn Off the Automatic Updates

As per the statement, however, there is still a way for players to toggle automatic updates OFF. In order to turn off the automatic updates, players will have to right-click the title under Library and click on "Properties."

When in the updates tab, users have to change the automatic updates setting to update only when players launch it. After that, players will have to press "Steam" and click "Go Offline."

Finally, players will be able to play the game without having to worry as to whether or not the game will update automatically, especially if their requirements do not meet the new update. Players will have to have the Windows 10 64-BIT version.
