The quest to look for the most unique device that can play "Doom" has been one of the most entertaining ones for hacksmiths. The newest addition to the list of devices that can play the classic game is the Lego bring PC.

'Doom' Ported Onto a Lego Brick Less than an Inch in Size

Imagine playing "Doom" on something as small as a Lego brick. As reported by PC Gamer, this is exactly what James Brown did with a 0.42-inch screen.

Although not really a practical way to play "Doom" due to its extremely small screen, it is still interesting to see the game being played on something as small as a Lego brick which isn't even an inch in size.

Hacksmith Loads Doom on a Lego Brick

The hacksmith behind the project, James Brown, revealed the project on a Twitter post with a video showing how he was able to accomplish this feat. Although extremely small, the graphics still show what appears to be the "Doom" game.

When asked what was the resolution he played "Doom" in, Brown replied that the Lego brick was only capable of a 72x40 1bpp resolution. Although playing with such a small resolution might not be that practical, the main project's goal was to load and play "Doom" on the most unique device ever, a Lego brick.

Other Doom Projects and the Use of Legos

As per PC Gamer, there have also been some other odd projects when it came to where "Doom" can be played. This included running a motherboard BIOS as well as 100 pounds of moldy potatoes to play the game.

Lego has been well known for not just its playset components but as of lately, has also become popular for its robotics and its simplification of tech to give kids and beginners a way into programming and computer building.

How the Project Could be Improved

Due to the versatility of Lego, it's easy to see how new projects are being built using their technology. Being able to play "Doom," however, is a whole new thing that required not just building with Legos, but also being able to create an extremely small screen that fits on a Lego block.

Of course, there could still be more improvements made in order to make the game more playable on the Lego brick. Brown revealed that the game was not too playable and that in order to actually play the game on a Lego brick, hacksmiths should try creating a version with higher resolution.

Higher resolution, however, won't fully guarantee that "Doom" will be playable on the Lego brick since the brick itself is less than an inch in size. Playing "Doom" for real on the small Lego brick could also be problematic for those that don't have extremely keen eyesight.
