People walk past the Radio Shack in downtown Washington, DC, March 16, 2017, one of the 365 locations that Radio Shack intends to close by early April due to their second chapter 11 bankruptcy case in two years.

That's what RadioShack recently tweeted recently that made a lot of people think that it got hacked, according to Mashable.

Gone are the days when RadioShack is the place your dad and even your grandparents buy their stuff. Radioshack has changed-it is now a blockchain company that has launched its own crypto exchange, the Radio Shack Swap. The company also has its own token called $RADIO, currently trading at around a penny.

RadioShack is still selling electronics, but if you visit their website, it is now a cryptocurrency platform. And it's because of this why the company started tweeting more hip content.

This isn't also the first time RadioShack has gone viral. On June 16, it tweeted, "who else high af rn."

Then on June 28, it tweeted "Taking the second half of an edible after feeling nothing from the first half is always a bad idea. This chocolate bar got me out here fighting for my life."

About REV

RadioShack was acquired by Retail Commerce Ventures (REV) in 2020 that saved the company after a tumultuous period. When REV got the company, it only had 400 physical retail locations from its peak of 7,300.

REV is owned by Tai Lopez and this isn't his first take in the crypto space. He launched his own line of NFTs earlier this year that got him into controversies.

Still, if REV is successful in its crypto vision for RadioShack, it's likely that other companies will follow in its footsteps. Lopez has acquired a number of legacy brands over the years, such as Dressbarn, Modell's Sporting Goods, Pier1, and more.

Cryptocurrency Today

In a world where everything is moving toward blockchain and cryptocurrency, it's nice to see that even big corporations are taking the initiative to capitalize on this. It's still surprising that a company like Radioshack is on this bandwagon but hey, why not?

RadioShack is also one of the many legacy brands that's moving to blockchain. If you're following the space, you might have heard that Kodak is doing something similar by leveraging the power of blockchain technology. Perhaps these established brands are taking this new direction to revitalize their brand. Certainly, it's a novel way to breathe life into a company that has been struggling for years.

The increased adoption of blockchain tech and cryptocurrency is just the start. People are actively buying, selling, and trading cryptocurrency, which is encouraging. And it won't stop there. Companies will continue to adopt cryptocurrency and blockchain tech in their businesses. As with any new technology, it's just a matter of time.
