"Genshin Impact" has not yet released a new character for this patch, yet rumors suggest that the upcoming casts will come from Sumeru.

From the looks of it, the leak could hint that we might potentially see dark-skinned characters that hail from a Sumer-inspired region.

Could we Sumer characters soon in "Genshin Impact?" New leaks say it's possible.

According to ClutchPoints, multiple sources tell that the leaked characters from Sumeru will enter the game in the next update. Based on the rumors, the seven characters will include Dendro Archon Nahida, Al-Haitham, Nilou, Dori, Tighnari, Collei, and Dehya.

The past rumors have revealed that Dori, Collei, and Tighnari will come to the third version of the game. However, there's still no official announcement from HoYoverse regarding their character designs.

In a similar report, ClutchPoints highlights that Nilou will be envisioned as a red-haired girl with horns. She will likely be seen as a teen character in "Genshin Impact 3.0."

Moreover, Dehya is portrayed to be much taller than Nillou. She resembles a lady with black hair. Since they are allegedly from Sumeru, people speculated that they would have tanned skin.

  If this happens, we will see another collaboration many fans have dreamed of. In the past, the game maker has brought Yae Miko and Raiden Shogun to "Genshin Impact" from the "Honkai" world. Aside from Tighnari and the company, other speculated characters that will debut in "Genshin Impact 3.0" include Nafs, Yaoyao, and Ikhfa.

The Issue With Sumeru Characters

There's surface information that Sumeru characters will showcase dark skin because they come from Southeast Asia and the Middle East, according to some fans. Some people who scrolled over the leaks on Twitter expressed their disappointment about HoYoverse's decision to bring Sumeru characters into the game. According to one user who goes by the name "qwuox," the video game creator is "afraid" to make the characters (who work under the sun) a little darker in terms of complexion, Polygon reports.

If the racial controversy continues, some fans could end up boycotting the game just like they did last year.

At the time, many critics lambasted MiHoYo because of their unfair take on the part of the indigenous tribes. The "Genshin Impact" creator used these people as Hilichurl grunt models.
