The German traffic regulator, Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA), announced the detection of the system flaw on June 29.

This is actually not-so-good news for the giant EV maker, especially since Giga Berlin released its first manufactured electric cars last March.

According to Engadget's latest report, the German traffic regulator is now ordering Tesla to recall more than 59,000 EVs.

KBA said the recollection needed to be done since the software glitch affected the eCall system.

For those who are not familiar with the eCall software, it is a tool that allows drivers to call authorities when there is a serious accident automatically.

Reuters reported that the latest software flaw could be a huge problem for Tesla, especially since the giant electric carmaker confirmed that its delivered EVs were around 18% fewer compared to its previous record.

This is not the first Tesla recall this 2022. Previously, another EV recollection happened after the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed that a glitch could lead to infotainment system overheating in Tesla EVs manufactured between 2021 and 2022.

Tesla eCall Glitch

The eCall service is essential for drivers as it enables them to contact responders in a short period.

Tesla explained that if car owners use this feature during an accident, the eCall system will send important details of the driver and the driver's vehicle.

These include the vehicle type, total number of passengers, the VIN, current location, etc. But, since KBA warned that the software glitch could affect the eCall service, drivers who are not informed about the issue can be put in serious danger.

Because of this, the German traffic regulator suggested that car owners in Germany who purchased Tesla Model Ys and Model 3s manufactured in Giga Berlin should contact the EV maker as soon as possible.

On the other hand, Tesla, Polestar, and other EV makers said that the quality of their vehicles declined.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk said he is losing billions of revenue in Tesla Gigafactory Berlin and Texas
