The game focuses on Juliet Starling, a cheerleader who fights zombies in a California high school. She uses a chainsaw that can be used in various ways and also collect lollipops to restore her health. Juliet is accompanied by the disembodied head of her boyfriend.

The Remake

Yasuda will produce the remake and he has now a development team that mainly consists of the people who also worked on Lollipop Chainsaw in the past. According to IGN, some aspects will be different in the remake as Yasuda said that they will take advantage of current-get console hardware that will enable them to deliver a more realistic approach when it comes to the graphics. The game will also feature new music.

Dragami acquired the intellectual property of the game and other titles from the original publisher, Kadokawa Games.

Yasuda took to Twitter and said, "Unfortunately, various factors resulted in things making it so that fans can no longer easily play Lollipop Chainsaw, and it has been some time since players have not been able to access the game on current consoles."

Another tweet reads, "We, the original development staff on Lollipop Chainsaw, think of the game as very precious to us, and did not want to leave it in limbo, where players who want to play it cannot."

Just last month, Yasuda announced that he will be leaving Kadopkawa and would establish a new company, which is now called Dragami Games. With that, it seems that Lollipop Chainsaw is one of its first titles.

Fans are hopeful that the new game will be available on other consoles. Originally, it was only available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The Rise of Game Remakes

Yasuda is one of the most progressive and open-minded creators in the gaming industry, and he has been known for shifting platforms for his projects. He often takes to Twitter to announce the next project that he is working on, and his tweets are usually followed by other developers.

The remake of Lollipop Chainsaw is just the latest in a growing trend of remakes in the industry. In the last several years, we have already seen a number of remakes and remasters of old games.

This began with the development of HD remasters of titles that were already available on other platforms. Now, we are getting remakes in different formats.
