The Electric Vehicle (EV) maker Polestar has ventured out of the car industry to build a house in Finland. Koja is said to be the next-gen dwelling, designed by Kristian Talvitie, a Finnish designer who got an honorable mention in the 2021 Polestar Design contest. The EV maker was so impressed that it decided to bring the house to life.

In a statement reported by Robb Report, "We were fascinated by the idea and how it translates our brand values into a different environment," Maximilian Missoni, the head of design at Polestar said.

Koja is the first design submitted in the Polestar Design Contest that was turned into real life. It is also a part of the house by an Architect exhibition this year that will be held at Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale.

A Green Home

Koja is located in the village of Fiskars, and it sits on a tree trunk. It gives panoramic woodland views that will make you feel serenity. Talvitie worked with the design team at Polestar and Ultra to turn the home into a reality.

The house was built from sustainable materials, like locally sourced wood and wool. With these, the house was able to blend in with the natural environment. Also, Koja features Polestar's futuristic design with its aesthetic that makes it stand out from its surroundings.

One of the purposes behind the design is to redefine sustainable travel by reducing the need for travel in the first place. The treehouse will already give guests a chance to experience nature fully without the need to take a long trip into the wilderness.

Another reason is that Koja shows show groundbreaking green design can be applied across various industries.

According to Talvitie, "Most designers look at design from a user perspective. I also look at things from the environment's perspective, there should be a symbiosis between the design and where it's encountered."

This kind of thinking will be good in the future, with the need to minimize carbon footprints.

The home's design is also minimalist. It shows how every inch is carefully designed to maximize the space. However, the inside is spacious and well-lit. The architecture is considered a great example of how next-gen homes should be.

Futuristic and Sustainable: A Refined Approach

Koja is a futuristic design that blends with the environment. It is a response to the challenges of the future, where technology will be the main player in our lives.

We can't really deny that technology is changing how we live.

At the same time, the house makes sure that all the materials used are sustainable. It shows that even with a cutting-edge design, we can still do our part in protecting nature, just like how Polestar balances its cutting-edge technology with its commitment to the environment.
