Google Voice experienced an outage, which prevented its users from making outgoing calls for a brief time.

So, if you were trying to reach a friend, colleague, or family member earlier today, you might have been left with a message that says their number "is not in service."

People pass by a booth of Google at the re:publica 2022 digital media convention in Berlin, on June 9, 2022.

It sure is frustrating to hear that message over and over again while attempting to reach someone via Google Voice. Some would assume that their friend or colleague might be deliberately dodging their calls.

But don't blame the other end and go shamelessly berserk, as the service of the renowned tech giant actually went down for a while.

Google Voice Outage Lasts More Than an Hour

Yes, essentially, Google Voice had a bit of trouble earlier. And to be less vague about it, 9to5 Google says in its recent report that the outage prevents the "majority of users" from placing an outgoing call.

To be more exact, the Google Voice outage lasted for more than an hour, which is precisely around 4:12 PM until 5:04 PM Pacific Time.

The online news outlet recalls that Google Voice customers trying to place a call during that period most likely failed from doing so. Instead, they were left with the generic "number is not in service" notice.

The renowned search engine tech giant clarified that the hour-long outage only affected its voice services. And as such, it spared its SMS and MMS messaging services from the Google Voice problem.

Google failed to provide how many customers were unable to place their calls during the outage. But the tech giant said that it affected most Google Voice users without giving any estimated numbers of customers.

Its statement says it has finally resolved the "problem with Google Voice." The search engine company went on to issue an apology for the trouble it might have caused its users during its brief downtime.

Nevertheless, Google thanked its customers for their "patience and continued support."
