One of the most anticipated smartwatches for 2022 is Samsung's Galaxy Watch 5 series. There have been several leaks about the upcoming smartwatch, and so far, we have learned that Samsung will launch two models in its latest lineup.

Samsung will be releasing Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, both of which will have larger batteries and faster-charging capabilities.

Samsung to Release Two New Galaxy Watch 5 Models

According to XDA Developers, leaker Evan Blass has shared renders of the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro through 91mobiles.

The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro shows an updated design with a new magnetic strap and no rotating bezel around the display. Just like the Galaxy Watch 4, the smartwatch features two buttons on the right edge, with one of them having a red accent.

Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will also have a microphone on the right edge and a speaker grille on the left side. According to The Verge, fans can choose between two color variants: black and titanium

Meanwhile, the regular Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is not that different from the Galaxy Watch 4 in design. It also features a traditional watch-style strap, two buttons on the right side, no rotating bezel, and a speaker grille on the left side.

The regular Galaxy Watch 5 will also have a couple of additional colorways and two case sizes. Both smartwatch models will be available in LTE and Bluetooth-only variants.

The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has a more recessed display. The raised bezel should greatly protect the display from bumps and nicks due to daily use. The regular Galaxy Watch 5 does not have the same protection, and its display sits with the bezel.

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Watch 5 series together with its next-gen foldable smartwatches in August.

Release Date for Galaxy Watch 5

According to Tom's Guide, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 release date is on Aug. 26. The watch's announcement could happen around Aug. 10, during the next Samsung Unpacked event. Fans who have been waiting for the smartwatch can start pre-ordering on Aug. 10.

The timeline was revealed by leaker Jon Prosser. However, Tom's Guide reported that the dates could still change. All that is confirmed is that it will be revealed before the company's next Unpacked event.

Samsung has always held their Unpacked event every August. However, the timing varies, but the tech giant has established a routine of releasing the Galaxy Watch 5 smartwatch with the Samsung Galaxy Z-series smartphones and the new Galaxy Buds.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S-series flagships will come out around the start of 2023.

As for its price, the Galaxy Pro model could be a bit more expensive than the other Samsung smartwatches. The new Pro model will cost around $550 for the LTE version, while the other models, such as the Bluetooth-only, will cost around $300.

As for its features, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 got Google Assistant support recently, so it is possible that the Galaxy Watch 5 may also have the same software and get Google Assistant support.
