Spotify on Nest Hub finally gets real-time lyrics features after getting left behind by all sorts of devices such as Android smartphones, iPhones, smart TVs, and even gaming consoles.

But how about other smart displays with Google Assistant?

Spotify Real-Time Lyrics

Once upon a time, Spotify users would end up guessing the lyrics of the latest music out there. And instead of heading straight to Google to search for them, some of us would merely pretend to mouth some random nonsense words in hopes to sing along.

But this finally came to an end when Spotify introduced its real-time lyrics features for its free and premium paying subscribers.

As per a news story by Tech Crunch, the music streaming service answered the clamor of its users in the United States for an in-app lyrics feature last November 2021.

The lyrics feature on Spotify made it to a wide range of users as it arrived at its app on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Not to mention that its web desktop app was not left behind and also got it.

The streaming platform also brought its in-app lyrics experience to larger screens, thanks to its debut on Amazon Fire TV, LG, Comcast, Sky, Samsung, Roku, and Android TVs.

Avid gamers on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 also started singing along to the lyrics of their favorite tunes.

Spotify says during the debut of the new feature that "Lyrics are one of the most requested features from listeners across the globe. So after iterating and testing, we've created an experience that's simple and interactive-and even shareable."

However, Nest Hub users, and the rest of the folks with smart displays, were unfortunately left behind, seemingly forgotten altogether.

Spotify Nest Hubs Gets Real-Time Lyrics

But this time, the music streaming service is bringing its in-app real-time lyrics feature to Nest Hub users as well.

According to the latest report by 9to5 Google, the latest update of Spotify on Nest Hub smart displays now sports a lyrics button.

The online news outlet notes that tapping the button next to the "Heart" option shows real-time lyrics of the songs you are streaming.

And it works like how the in-app function does on smart TVs. The screen gets filled with scrolling text, which specifically highlights the line where the song is currently at.

Like the lyrics feature that Spotify first introduced last year, MusixMatch also powered it on the Nest Hub version.

"By partnering with Musixmatch, we're bringing song lyrics to life through in-app access across the majority of our extensive library of tracks," the music streaming service previously highlighted.

9to5 Google further notes that the new in-app functionality also arrives on other Google Assistant smart displays. But it is unclear if devices like the Lenovo Smart Clock 2 also got real-time lyrics.
