“Red Dead Redemption 2” re-release for PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X has been reportedly canceled by Rockstar Games.

The latest leak comes shortly after players of "Red Dead Redemption 2" have learned that Rockstar Games is slowing down on the development of Red Dead Online as it focuses on working on its highly popular "Grand Theft Auto" series.

'Red Dead Redemption 2' PS5, Xbox Release Canceled?

As per a news story by DBLTAP, rumors have it that Rockstar Games plans to release a next-generation "Red Dead Redemption," or more like an enhanced edition for the latest gaming consoles these days, such as the PS5 and Xbox.

However, this time around, a leaker claims that the "Red Dead" publisher, Rockstar Games, has reportedly abandoned the rumored project altogether.

A leaker that goes by the name Tez2 spilled that Rockstar Games have already canceled the "Red Dead Redemption 2" release on PS5 and Xbox Series S and X.

A user from the forum of Rockstar Games asked Tez2 if it is "safe to say that Red Dead Redemption II will never get a PS5/Xbox Series S/X release?"

And the Rockstar Games insider readily responded to the query with a resounding "yes." Tez2 further admits that he has learned about it for quite some time.

However, according to a recent report by Game Rant, the reliable leaker failed to give more details about it.

So, it remains to be seen if Rockstar Games have decided to cancel the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2" on new Xbox and PlayStation consoles as it focuses on "Grand Theft Auto." Essentially, it is unclear why it has to end up like this.

Enhanced Rockstar Editor Also Canceled?

But on top of that, the reliable leaker also notes that it could also be possible that the game publisher paused its plans to develop an Enhanced Rockstar Editor. Tez2 says that might have been either canceled completely or halted for now.

And as such, we might still see it coming in the near future when the game publisher starts focusing on its "Red Dead" franchise besides its ever-popular "Grand Theft Auto."
