Samsung is preparing for the MWC 2015 in Barcelona where it is set to unveil the next Galaxy flagship device otherwise known as the Galaxy S6. As the event draws nearer, the Korean manufacturer has to make some changes on the phone's processor.

Originally, it planned to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC to power up the Galaxy S6. However, Samsung announced that it will no longer push through as far as the phone's processing unit is concerned.

Several reports have revealed how the Snapdragon 810 chipset was linked to some issues of overheating.

Samsung on its part has decided to use its own Exynos processor for the Galaxy S6. Eventually, it will be releasing the phone's Qualcomm-variant, although in limited supplies.

According to Samsung, the decision not to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset is based on the overheating issues that the company learned while they were testing the device.

"Samsung may release the next Galaxy S as early as March, and it can't dare to take the risk to use any of the chips in question for its most important model," said Song Myung Sup, an analyst at HI Investment & Securities Co.

While it is true that Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors had been powering a number of devices, which include the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, new Moto X by Motorola, Sony Xperia Z3, OnePlus One, and HTC One M8, its absence in the Galaxy S6 because of Samsung's decision is still considered as a huge blow.

The company, which is the world's largest manufacturer of phone-based semiconductors, has been supplying the Korean company with chips that run its best-selling devices. They are also the biggest provider of modems used in converting cellular signal into voice and data.

Apart from the Galaxy S6, Qualcomm is said to produce the chips needed for the LG G Flex 2 and Xiaomi Mi Note Pro. The two devices have already officially listed the Snapdragon processor as part of their features.

Rumors are saying that the Galaxy S6 will come with a fingerprint touch sensor as opposed to being swipe-based. Other features may include a RAM of 4GB and a more enhanced TouchWiz UI. It is highly likely that the device will come in two versions. One version will tout a regular display while the other will boast a curved edge similar to that of Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.
