Tesla drivers are among the common victims of road rage, as shared by Iowa Tesla Owners Club's members. As of writing, many Tesla owners across the United States have already experienced being heckled on the road.

Some of them experienced the worst scenarios, even getting their parked Tesla Model X set on fire. There is really no valid reason why people should hate EV drivers.

But, some Tesla drivers who fell victims to road rage claimed that politics is among the main reasons why other car owners show aggression against them. 

As of press time, Elon Musk, the owner and CEO of Tesla, is still being criticized for his actions. However, it is not proven if this is linked to Tesla drivers being heckled. 

Tesla Drivers Common Victims of Road Rage?

According to Axios' latest report, Iowa Tesla Owners Club's members shared their negative experiences while on the road.

Suzie Stewart, a resident of Des Moines, said she is worried about her son's safety since he owns a Tesla.

The woman explained that during their last road trip, a driver suddenly made obscene hand gestures as they encountered each other. 

The driver even tailgated the car although they were not doing anything that can provoke his negative behavior. Aside from her, another victim shared his experience with aggressive drivers. 

Kyle Volz, an Uber driver using a Tesla EV, said that another driver tried to run him off the road during his regular operation. 

Spencer Hall, a resident of Norwalk, is also another Tesla driver victimized by road rage. The man said that he is usually heckled by other drivers who want to race.  

Why are Tesla Drivers Hated? 

Brian Miller, an EV advocate, residing in Ankeny, Iowa, explained that Tesla and Elon Musk are both seen as the environmental movement. 

However, there are some instances when the billionaire is viewed as a polarizing figure. Aside from this, Tesla Model Y, Model X, and other units of the automaker are also seen as sporty status symbols. 

For the past few years, Tesla has been enhancing its cars' features. Because of this, other drivers want to challenge the Tesla EVs they see on the road. 

U.S. residents are not the only ones that are victimized by road rage. Electrek reported that Tesla drivers in China complain that unknown individuals are disassembling their zero-emission cars. 

Meanwhile, the Tesla Destination Charging Network's paid charging enhancement started to roll out.
