The next playable hero slated for "Marvel's Avengers" has been confirmed: the Winter Soldier himself, Bucky Barnes.

As reported by PlayStation Lifestyle, Bucky's addition to the game is part of the next steps for the current "Avengers" roadmap. The Winter Soldier will be the new playable character to be added as part of Update 2.7, which is due this September. There's no exact date for when he'll come to the game, though.

Bucky will be part of the current "Marvel's Avengers" roster after the events of "No Rest For The Wicked" and the "AIM Cloning Lab." The former is a new Warzone where M.O.D.O.K., the primary antagonist of the main game, gets recovered by Monica from the San Francisco Bay in an attempt to revive him. The Cloning Lab, on the other hand, is a new Omega-levle threat that the Earth's mightiest heroes have to contend with.

Here is a video from YouTuber BobDuckNWeave discussing the impending inclusion of the Winter Soldier to "Marvel's Avengers'" current roster:

To cap things off about Bucky Barnes, his hero class will be a mix of a brawler and marksman. So expect that he'd be good with both of his hands and guns - while also being roughly as strong (if not stronger) as Cap himself. But he's not going to be the only newcomer to the team, as the "Avengers" are also getting some new skins - some of them unconfirmed, but looking legit.

Three of these skins were found by a dataminer whose images were reposted to Reddit. The three skins are as follows: Captain America's suit from the MCU's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," an Ultimate Thor skin, and a classic Hawkeye outfit straight from the original comics - if not featuring a few slight changes. According to the dataminer, these three skins are expected to come "within a couple of months."

"Marvel's Avengers" is out now for all major platforms, including Xbox and PC Game Pass.

Is It Worth Playing The Game Now?

The addition of the Winter Soldier to "Marvel's Avengers" could be one of the reasons why people should (if they want to) check the game out. By now, it's very well-known that Crystal Dynamics' take on the iconic superheroes has been maligned in a lot of ways.

People say that the game is boring, is riddled with useless microtransactions, and was just overall bad. Numerous reviews, whose writers were hopeful for the game's success, shared the same sentiment back in 2020. But what about now, roughly two years after release?

According to The Sixth Axis, the answers are simple. If you didn't like the core gameplay at launch, then the answer is no, it's not worth playing in 2022. Despite a lot of new content and great DLCs ("War For Wakanda" being one of the best), the core gameplay has remained the same. The only thing worth checking out is its single-player campaign, which is a fresh take on the stories of the "Avengers" as a whole.
