CMG (Capitol Music Group) finally decided to drop the controversial AI rapper called FN Meka. The Factory New, the AI developer behind the digital artist, introduced FN Meka back in 2019.

However, the artificial intelligence rapper became controversial when the major record label signed a contract with it.

On the other hand, FN Meka was also able to collab with Gunna, a certified platinum rapper, in the new single called "Florida Water."

Aside from CMG and Gunna, "Fornite" pro player, Clix, is also involved in the rising popularity of the AI-powered rapper since he was featured in the new single.

"We offer our deepest apologies to the Black community for our insensitivity in signing this project without asking enough questions about equity and the creative process behind it," said CMG.

The label record label company further stated that they are thankful to those individuals who reached out to them with their constructive feedback.

CMG added that their comments regarding the AI rapper are valuable since they allowed them to come up with their final decision.

Meanwhile, Clix's management also shared their statements, saying that the "Fortnite" pro player didn't want to get involved with FN Meka in the first place.

The gamer's manager explained that Capitol Records, a subsidiary of CMG, informed them that if Clix wanted to get the "Florida Water" song out, they are required to include the AI rapper in the content.

Why FN Meka is Criticized

BBC reported that the rising AI rapper is being criticized because of how it represents the Black Community.

Before the major record label firm ended its contract with FN Meka, the Industry Blackout, a black activist group, shared their concerns.

The group sent an open letter to CMG, saying that the AI-powered artist is an insult to the Black Community, as well as their beloved culture.

Aside from the negatively portrayed appearance of FN Meka, the lyrics created by the digital rapper also consist of curse words and other slurs.
