Twitter is now the latest platform to recognize just how important podcasts are becoming. In a recent announcement, the platform confirmed that it will be adding a podcast feature for its users.

Twitter is Adding Podcasts to Its Platform as Part of the Spaces Tab

The company released an official announcement sharing how it will be integrating podcasts into its platform. The addition of podcasts comes as part of the Spaces tab which gets a redesign.

According to the story by Tech Crunch, the newer Spaces tab, which Twitter has revamped, will add podcasts. The podcasts feature will become visible to iOS and Android English-speaking users around the world.

Twitter Also Adds a New Feature Called 'Stations' that Helps Curate Content

The redesign also introduces another feature in the personalized hubs called "Stations." This particular feature places different topics into a group. This means that users will be able to see content on news, music, sports, and other topics.

The recommendations that users will be getting highly depend on the type of content, themes, and accounts that they are already following. Users will also be able to get a "personalized section of live and recorded Spaces."

Users can Give a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down to Help Twitter with the Algorithm

The hub will also show the most popular podcasts from all around the world. Once users try to use podcasts, they will be given the choice between a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

The two options will allow them to tell Twitter if the content is indeed interesting for them or not at all. In turn, this will help Twitter tweak its algorithm to try to offer better podcasts for the user moving forward.

Space Tab Redesign will Lead Users to See Three Different Selections

Once the Space Tab is opened, users will be met with three different selections. Users will be able to see the Stations located at the top of the tab which can be scrolled horizontally in order to show the different Topics and themes users might want to listen to.

Below that, users will be able to see a Spaces spotlight which then lists a few of the top curated audio for the user. The last thing users will be able to see is the basic Spaces.

Twitter Decided to Place the Podcast with Spaces

The article by Tech Crunch notes that the new podcast features on Twitter aren't really a surprise since the platform has already been seen testing the podcast feature a few months back. The initial tests, however, showed that the social media was working on a different podcasts tab.

Instead of a completely new podcasts tab, users can access the podcast feature through Spaces. Twitter also released a blog post announcing that they are integrating podcasts into Spaces and it will be another way that the platform will invest more into audio creators.

It was also noted that in order to help invest into audio creators, they decided to redesign the audio experience of their Spaces Tab.
