The American space infrastructure development is expected to create better space protective gear for astronauts.
In June, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration said they are choosing between Axiom and Collins Aerospace.
Now, NASA finally announced that Axiom Space won the deal, allowing it to have a $228.5 million contract with the international space agency.
Axiom Space to Develop NASA's Artemis Moonwalk Spacesuits!
According to Engadget's latest report, the new spacesuits that Axiom will design are under the Exploration Extravehicular Activity Services Contract or xEVAS.

Houston, Texas, on August 5, 2022. - Rick LaBrode has worked at NASA for 37 years, but he says the American quest to return to the Moon is by far the crowning moment of his career. LaBrode is the lead flight director for Artemis 1, set to take off later this month -- the first time a capsule that can carry humans will be sent to the Moon since the last Apollo mission in 1972.

The upcoming spacesuits are expected to change how NASA explores the moon. Previously, an all-female spacewalk was supposed to happen in 2019.
However, since most space gear models can't fit them properly, this activity was canceled.
Now, Axiom Space claims that its new xEVAS spacesuits will change this scenario.
Their upcoming models are expected to have better flexibility so that all astronauts can wear them.
"Our modernized, evolvable spacesuits will enable rapid upgrades to implement better, safer technologies over time, ensuring our astronauts are always equipped with high-performing, robust equipment," said Axiom CEO Michael Suffredeni.
NASA Artemis III Mission
The upcoming xEVAS spacesuits of Axiom space will be used for the upcoming Artemis III mission.
NASA said this launch would be its first lunar visit since Apollo 17 took off in 1972.
On the other hand, this space endeavor will also deliver the first female astronaut to Earth's natural satellite.
As of writing, the Artemis III mission is expected to take off around 2025. But, this will still depend on the preparation efforts made by NASA.
In other news, the NASA Voyager 1 probe celebrated its 45th anniversary.
On the other hand, NASA's MOXIE reportedly generates oxygen output similar to one tree.
