According to the story by Planet F1, the news was just recently announced as the longest-serving monarch of the United Kingdom has passed away. The passing of the Queen was confirmed via a short statement by the Royal Family.

A tweet with a statement from "his majesty the king" was also shared on September 8, announcing the news that the Queen has passed. Going back to the news, "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon."

 

Formula 1 Teams and Figures Pay Tribute to the Queen

The Formula 1 teams and figures have joined forces and paid tribute to Her Majesty. Stefano Domenicali, the sport's CEO, announced that "Formula 1 mourns the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II."

The statement was shared by Oracle Red Bull Racing sharing how the F1 people are "saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II." The tweet then shared how Oracle Red Bull Racing is sending their deepest condolences to the Royal Family.

 

Why the Passing of the Queen is Big News for the Formula 1 World

The reason why this news is big for the Formula 1 world is because the majority of the teams are actually either British-owned or have bases located in Britain. F1 also has a rich motorsport heritage that spanned decades during the reign of Her Majesty.

In fact, the Queen was the one who officially opened the McLaren Technology Center in 2004. The team also expressed their sadness, saying they are remembering her incredible reign.

The Queen was Described as an Inspiration

George Russell, a Mercedes driver, shared on social media that he was very sad to hear about Her Majesty's passing and said that "her devotion to our country and gracious leadership were inspirational" towards numerous generations of people located both in the UK and around the world.

 

Team principals have also started to pay tribute, including Toto Wolff, the boss of Mercedes, saying they are saddened by the passing of the Queen and that she is an "inspiring figure who dedicated her life to public service with integrity and quiet leadership" for the span of 70 years.
