TikTok will be adding a new feature that will allow users to have the ability to dislike comments. Whenever there is a comment that they do not like, they can now rate it with thumbs-down feedback.

TikTok Adds a New Feature that Allows Users to Send Feedback to the Platform

While YouTube recently hid its dislike count, TikTok is adding the ability for users to dislike the content. According to the story by XDA-Developers, despite the overwhelming success of TikTok, the platform has been continuing to try and add new features and improvements every so often.

It was recently announced by the company that they will be giving the community a way for them to provide feedback to the platform. TikTok plans to do this by adding a dislike feature to the comments.

New Thumbs Down Feature was Being Tested on the Platform Since Early This Year

The feature was already being tested out by TikTok early in the year but has not yet been made available to the majority. Now, all users will be able to access the dislike feature for their comments.

The publication notes that while there are still no rules regarding how the feature is to be used, TikTok specifies that the new method would help them see "inappropriate or irrelevant" comments much better.

The Thumbs Down Action is Reversible and Users can Click It Again to Undo Action

The platform still continued to say that the main priority was to be able to introduce the feature in order to provide a better user experience for those on the platform. When it comes to the front-facing part of the feature, users will still not have access to how many dislikes a certain comment received.

The good thing about the thumbs-down is that if users make a mistake and want to reverse their decision, they can easily do so by clicking the button again. Before the change happened, users still had other ways to express their dislikes towards a certain comment.

Other TikTok Features Including Avatars and Better Transparency Through New APIs' Introduction

The best thing that users had, however, was the option to either reply to the content and share the users' sentiments, or report the comment or post altogether. The article by XDA-Developers noted that TikTok did not provide specifics regarding how they will be using the new thumbs-down system.

Over the span of the past few months, TikTok has reportedly been introducing some features that were regarded as interesting like the Avatars feature, as seen on Tech Crunch. At the same time, the platform has also provided more useful tools that would help users curb their "short-form video-watching habits."

The company has also tried to push for better transparency through its new APIs' introduction. As TikTok has become a strong competitor in the game, other platforms like YouTube are trying to adopt short-form vertical video content.
