For the past few years, the U.S. maintained its position as the top country when it comes to space missions. This became the trend, thanks to NASA's efforts, as well as its partnered aerospace agencies.
DIU's Space Portfolio Director Steven Butow said that the U.S. government should properly bring things together if it wants to remain the top space power.
"There should be one space effort, not 17, you know, the weather guys do one thing, NASA does another, DoD does another," said the Pentagon official via Breaking Defense.
How Can the U.S. Remain the Leading Dominant Space Power?
Butow explained that the U.S. government needs to invest more in its infrastructure to continue dominating the space industry.

He added that doing this in physical and digital infrastructure will give the United States a great advantage over other space power competitors.
Aside from this, Steven also believed that strengthening the relationships of the U.S. with its allies would help build a better space economy for the nation.
On the other hand, reinvigorating STEM education and ensuring a resilient supply chain can also give the United States an upper hand over the Chinese government, which is considered among its top space competitors.
As of writing, many space enthusiasts expect China to dethrone the U.S. as the dominant space power. They claimed that this could happen as early as 2045.
China Expanding Its Space Partners
While the United States improves its space missions and strengthens its relationship with space partners, China is doing its own thing.
SpaceNews reported that the Chinese government is now building partnerships for its upcoming deep space missions and lunar explorations.
This effort was announced by Chinese space officials after they presented a range of opportunities for international cooperation.
They shared these details during a session at the IAC (International Astronautical Congress).
Previously, NASA and the U.S. Congress filed a new bill to solve the worsening space junk threats.
Meanwhile, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said there's a chance that NASA-China lunar cooperation will occur.
