Nintendo updated its Nintendo Switch Online (NSO) subscription service in April 2022 by introducing its new features, the "Missions" and "Rewards."

As the new month arrives, the video game company offers its players new things to enjoy.

Accessing October 2022 Missions

Nintendo users may reach access the features by navigating to the NSO icon on the home screen of their Switch and then selecting the Missions & Rewards option.

A list of available missions will appear on the screen. These are connected to the "things you're probably already doing with your Nintendo Switch Online membership," as Nintendo calls it. Therefore, the said missions are based on the player's game history, saved on the data cloud of Nintendo's system.

Some examples of these activities include playing online or exploring the library of classic games.

What Do Players Get?

In exchange for participating and completing the missions, players will obtain Platinum Points.

These points can be redeemed for digital wallpapers and physical items in the store found in the device's menu. Moreover, these can be used to purchase "new member-exclusive icon elements" that can be collected and assembled to form a new user icon.

Take note that the amount of time between when a play finishes a mission and when the points appear in the user's account can sometimes be rather quite large, especially during peak times. In case the points don't show up immediately, try to check again later.

Platinum points also expire, so don't forget to use them.

Available and Upcoming Rewards

Nintendo is releasing different theme and icon elements each month, which will be updated every week.

Players must regularly check their Switch for the weekly missions. This month's rewards feature icons from various games, such as Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3.

These are now available until Oct. 31 at 5:59 p.m. PT.

Meanwhile, the exclusive rewards for the past months include icons from Kirby's Dream Buffet, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Super Mario Odyssey.

Learn How to Unlock Icon Elements

As mentioned, these icon elements can create new and unique icons.

Players can get and use frames, characters, and backdrop components of the icon elements rewarded to them to personalize their Switch console's user icon.

Nintendo encourages its players to make their icons unique, as other gamers can also see these images.

Once the accumulated points are credited to the account, they can simply choose the icon elements they want to purchase. Gamers need to be logged into the NSO web app in order to edit the icons, as they cannot do it using the standard Switch UI.
