Apart from that, you can use the Family Setup for your Apple Watch if you have an iPhone. You want to monitor your kid's activity and safety as a parent. This feature will help you achieve that.

Here's a guide to get you started on how to setup an Apple Watch for your child.

For those who want to contact their children using an Apple Watch easily, you first need to know the requirements before you set up your smartwatch.

Family Setup came out two years ago. The Cupertino tech firm made it available for watchOS7. According to a report by Wired, the feature will work for Apple Watch Series 4 or later models. Make sure that the smartwatch variant can connect to your iPhone.

Speaking of iPhone, you must have an iPhone with iOS 14 or newer versions. Of course, you will be required to set up an Apple ID. Your kid will also be asked to have one.

Once you and your child already have an Apple ID, you can now head to the Settings of your device and search for Family. Tap it and start adding a member.

Creating a child account is easy. You only need to input his/her important information, including the name, email address, and date of birth.

How to Set Up the Apple Watch For Kids

Before anything else, make sure that your Apple Watch is updated. You can unpair your old app that is linked to your iPhone or iPad.

Then, tap All Watches." You will see a button beside the old watch. Tap Unpair Apple Watch. If you have a previous cellular plan, you can keep it to the current smartwatch of your kid.

If unpairing does not work, you can go to your smartwatch's settings. Head next to General, then reset and erase all the content and the saved settings.

This feature will also help you limit your child's activity on the App Store. In case he/she misclicks an in-game purchase, the transaction won't push through without your permission.

If you want to restrict the Contacts for your child, you can access Settings and head to iCloud Contacts for your device. Toggle this on.

Return to the original screen and go to Settings again. This time, tap Screen Time, then Family Member. After that, click Communication Limits.

If you want your child to set up a Schooltime on the Apple Watch, you can go to All Watches of your iPhone, then Your Child's Watch. Tap Schooltime to edit the schedule of your kid's school time.
