Android 13 Go's New Features

Based on a report from The Verge, Google just launched Android 13 Go, the company's newest mainline OS. Compared to its previous version, this will require more power as it offers new features.

Android 13 Go adds the Material You system, in which users will be given the option to pick a certain color from the four color schemes based on their wallpaper. This feature was introduced to Android 12 but was not featured in its Go edition, making it the first time to be included in the mainline OS.

Engadget also reported that this should be easier for users to keep their phones up to date as Android 13 Go adds Google Play System Updates, which ensures its users have critical patches without pushing the new code from the manufacturer. As per the report, it also fixes security flaws in a short period of time and keeps your phone updated without consuming their storage (especially on budget phones). Only 2GB of RAM will be needed for this new system to function.

Aside from the two, Google also added other features that are currently available to the regular version of the OS, such as notification permissions and the changing of a certain language on individual applications. For the home screen, when users swipe right, it will take them to a Discover feed. This will be helping its users to curate the list of new and other content that they want to see or read.

Android Go Active Devices

Google reported on its blog that there are 250 million monthly active phones that use Android Go, which the company described as its milestone. They stated, "To better serve this growing set of users, we focused on three critical qualities: reliability, usability, and customization. Let's walk through what's new in this release."

Android Go was introduced last 2017 and Google's goal back then was to power affordable devices with only limited memory and storage. As per them, Android 13 Go will be released next year with no definite date and the company noted that this newest version is a symbol of expansion to technical improvement.

Android 13 Updates

Android 13 will also be releasing updates very soon as it will be adding the ability for users to swap media sessions from their phones to any cast devices that they own such as smart television, smart display, and more. Through this, it will also let its users enable audio playback to several devices at the same time without unlocking their phones, just make sure that it is cast-compatible.

Google Work Profiles has also been updated by not mixing up data from the users' work and personal life. The new update will be separating suggested data for other Google-related applications like YouTube and Google Photos.
