This time, the Jasper Cooks robot is now offering its services to apartment dwellers. And like how Netflix asks for a subscription fee, this cooking robot also provides fresh meals via a recurring fee. But aside from that, residents also need to pay for the ingredients.

As per the latest report by Tech Crunch, a robotics startup, Jasper, primarily focuses on cooking automation. Initially, the founders planned to provide its cooking services to massive food firms.

However, Tech Crunch notes in its report that the plan never really kicked off as expected.

The chief executive officer (CEO) of Jasper Cooks, Gunnar Froh, told Tech Crunch in its Battlefield 200 at the Disrupt 2022 event that they have since shifted their focus.

The founder of the automated cooking start-up says that they were entirely looking forward to lessening the time of cooking. And to do so, they have automated the process thanks to a robot. It was made possible by its co-founder, Camilio Perez, who also turns out to be an expert in human-robot interaction.

At first, they decided to offer their automated cooking robot to businesses, such as food services and supplier firms. However, Froh admitted that it never really attracted many corporate firms.

And as such, once they realized that it did not appeal much to food businesses, they tried to look elsewhere.

Tech Crunch reports that the automated cooking robot got a branding overhaul, wherein the focus has shifted entirely.

From attempting to sell the automated cooking service to businesses, they have decided to offer it directly to consumers. These days, the Jasper robot is busy preparing fresh meals for various apartment residents who might prefer eating out.

"Having good meals at home is expensive or time-consuming," the Jasper CEO says. He also took a swipe at food delivery, dubbing it as "highly inefficient." Froh adds that customers are mostly unaware that "about half of their dollars are spent on platform fees and delivery costs" when having their meals delivered.

On the other hand, he touts that the Jasper cooking robot "eliminated labor and delivery inefficiencies."
