The new iPadOS 16 will soon arrive. However, some iPad models will not be able to have advanced enhancements.

This new operating system was first revealed by Apple during its recent WWDC Developers Conference in June. 

Now, the tech giant manufacturer provided an update regarding its most-awaited iPadOS 16. 

Apple confirmed, in a press release, that the latest iPadOS 16 will be launched on Monday, Oct. 14. This will system will arrive alongside the macOS Ventura and iOS 16.1.

New iPadOS 16 Features

According to The Express UK's latest report, iPadOS 16 will bring exciting new features that will further enhance the experience of iPad users.

One of these is the so-called Stage Manager. This new functionality is designed to offer a better multitasking experience. 

The Stage Manager allows your tablet to have overlapping windows of different sizes in a single view. This means that it will basically be like a laptop when you multitask. 

On the other hand, there is also the upgraded Messaging app, which will allow users to edit or delete messages after they are sent to other contacts.

Features Compatibility

The Stage Manager and the upgraded Messaging app are just among the enhancements you can expect from the upcoming iPadOS 16. 

However, some of its features will not be available on older iPad models. 

To help you further, MacWorld provided the new iPadOS 16 features and what models they are compatible with: 

  • Reference Mode (Compatible with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Requires Liquid Retina XDR display) 
  • Virtual Memory Swap (Requires M1 and M2 processors. Needs to have at least 256 GB of storage) 
  • Door Detection and Magnifier Detection Mode (Compatible with 4th to 6th-gen 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Can also work with 2nd to 4th-gen 11-inch iPad Pro. Require M1, M2, or A12X processor) 
  • Stage Manager (iPad Pro models running M1, A12X, A12Z)
