Here is the countdown of every scary bad guy in video games based on the titles' gameplay.

A great horror video game will have all three of these elements in place: spooky music, scary environments, and a disturbing story. However, villains play vital roles in any gaming experience.

The games seem to be terrifying when they look more gruesome and creepy. Ghosts, monsters, aliens, bizarre AI bots, and ugly people with incredible killing prowess are just some of the examples of the wide variety of antagonists that populate these games.

As Halloween approaches, I thought it was appropriate to rank every bad guy in video games based on the titles' gameplay and descriptions given by Game Rant and Red Bull blogs. Keep in mind that some of these terrifying characters are, unfortunately, in awful video games, but they nonetheless merit recognition for their villainous acts and so deserve to be featured here.

SCP-173 of SCP Containment Breach

SCP-173 is the most notable SCP monster in SCP Containment Breach. It's the first monster the player confronts in the game, establishing its dominance throughout the opening.

Keeping SCP-173 in your line of sight stops it from moving. As soon as the player grows used to the game's blinking mechanics, 173 begins to fade into the background, revealing the other unknown SCP entities as the true threat.

Father Dagon of Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

The concept of a Lovecraftian horror game is intriguing in and of itself. Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth had a great deal of potential, but its poor execution and basic misunderstanding of Lovecraft's literature eventually led to its failure, according to Game Rant.

Nevertheless, the game has its fair share of frightening foes. Call of Cthulhu's ultimate boss, Father Dagon, is an easy choice.

Val of Outlast 2

The original Outlast game was a breath of fresh air in the horror genre, as Game Rant puts it, but it fell apart in the second half. The sequel looks influenced by the second part of its predecessor, considering how similar it seems.

Outlast 2's terror is still present, although faintly. Val, a frightening antagonist, is an excellent example.

The Animatronics Of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza of Five Nights at Freddy's

No one knows what occurs when one of the animatronics enters the security office and the screen shuts off. But apparently, a locked door stops Foxy, one of the animatronics. While other villains in horror games or films can blast through a door in seconds, Foxy appears completely dumbfounded.

Foxy may be a terrible menace, but as long as there's enough power to keep the door locked, the player can rest in their fortified security office.

Karl Heisenberg of Resident Evil 8 (RE 8)

Heisenberg is strong and intimidating, but he sends henchmen in his place. He dispatched Ethan through a vicious Lycan labyrinth with lethal traps and technology to size him up.

Alma Wade of F.E.A.R.

Alma is frightening. Her presence is felt across all F.E.A.R. games it is very stressful to encounter. The game's climax is enough to keep players up for days.

Pyramid Head of Silent Hill 2

Pyramid Head is a video game nightmare that terrified Silent Hill fans for years. It is a depiction of the protagonist's shattered mind.

Pyramid Head is a manifestation of James Sunderland's sorrow and misery and his desire to be punished for his misdeeds. Despite its popularity and many cameo appearances, it has no place outside Silent Hill 2. James' own monster, Pyramid Head, stalks him in a very powerful way.

Laura of The Evil Within

The game's secondary adversary, Laura, is more than a throwaway creature inspired by Japanese horror films. The design is based on Ruvik's youth when he conjured an angry replica of his sister to avenge her death.

Nemesis of Resident Evil 3 (RE 3)

Nemesis is 7'3" tall, has superhuman strength, and can wield enormous, powerful guns. He can sprint, leap, and break barriers.

He haunts the game, and you cannot kill or stop him. He even has a rocket launcher. The 2020 remake of Nemesis emphasizes that the character is everywhere. He appears from nowhere.

Mr. X of Resident Evil 2 (RE 2)

Nemesis was a difficult competitor, but Mr. X edges out his RE monster sibling.

Mr. X is a gigantic, hulking skyscraper that will locate you and perhaps kill you. His footsteps alone are quite unsettling, while his presence boosts the whole game.

Slender Man

With just a flashlight to illuminate a tight road, you thought Slenderman was behind you. After discovering a page, white noise would make the screen leap and flicker, and Slenderman would appear. His white face and elongated features terrified people. He is a legend for video game jump scares.

Kayako Saeki of Ju-On The Grudge

The Grudge films are among the most recognizable in the history of the horror genre.

Ju-On: The Grudge deserves credit for making its opponent sufficiently unsettling and menacing. Players will find themselves desperately attempting to flee from this spooky specter, Kayako, who is as frightening as ever.
