After defeating Team Secret in a solid 3-0 in the championship match, Tundra Esports won The International 11 Dota 2 event. The victory earns the team the distinction of being the world's finest Dota 2 team and a significant first-place reward of at least $8,486,704 in cash, as reported first by Forbes

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - MAY 22: Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun of Tundra Esports is interviewed by Neal "tsunami" Khandheria during the ESL One Stockholm Dota Major at Hovet Arena on May 22, 2022 in Stockholm, Sweden.

It is worth noting that the champions were undefeated during the bracket round of the competition but incurred four map losses in the group stage and one on the main stage.

Game two followed the same pattern, with Tundra defeating Secret's Leshrac once more. With Tundra choosing Visage, Arc Warden, and Chaos Knight, the chaotic clashes gave Tundra a 2-0 run.

Leshrac, a hero that Team Secret had dominated throughout the tournament, was given to them by Tundra in the opening game. While several commentators questioned the choice, it ended up being the perfect one, as Tundra easily won the first round.

By using the Naga Siren that Tundra had been using throughout the competition, Secret attempted to outplay Tundra in game three. Despite losing both of their previous games with Leshrac, they chose him again, and this time it didn't work. Hence, Tundra ultimately prevailed at 3-0 to clinch the championships.

Pro Dota 2 Players Announce Retirement

The championship was not the only huge news from the tournament as two pro-Dota 2 players announced their retirement during the event.

Lasse "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen, a former TI champion, declared before the competition that he would be retiring after it, regardless of the outcome.

Matumbaman is still vying for a second Aegis of the Immortals, according to ClutchPoints. He co-won the Aegis with Kuroky's squad in Team Liquid at The International 2017 when he was only 22 years old.

However, it is worth noting that after being booted from the championship team, Matumbaman switched teams before returning to Team Liquid this year.

Another well-known player, faith_bian, also confirmed his retirement after the tournament. He was a member of Wings Gaming, a group that gained popularity in a flash in 2016, which is the year before Matumbaman clinched his championship.

It is worth noting that his teammates retired earlier but despite this, Faith_bian and y' kept playing. The two eventually joined PSG.LGD and made it to the Grand Finals of the 2017 International, coming close to winning a second Aegis together.

However, they did lose to Squad Spirit in the Grand Finals, and this year they both failed again as Team Aster eliminated their team on the final day of the Playoffs.

Since then, Faith_bian has announced his retirement from competitive Dota 2, stating that he would be pursuing other interests for the time being.
