Casio recently unveiled the brand new Mario G-Shock watch, officially known by its reference number DW5600SMB-4 or as the G-Shock x "Super Mario Bros." watch. The watch is a fusion of two brands, Casio's G-Shock and the popular game title.

According to the story by 9to5Toys, Casio describes the new collaboration between the two brands as "two cultural icons" that come directly out of Japan. The two brands come together for the latest crossover G-Shock.

The brand new functional collector's piece is expected to launch with special themed packaging within the month. The watch will be launched through selected retailers and online.

The G-Shock branded timepieces by Casio have a strong following despite there being a lot of hype around expensive mechanical watches as of late. The brand is teaming up with another well-known classical brand in the gaming industry, Nintendo, to bring some gamers onboard.

The New Casio Watch Comes with 8-Bit Design Cues to Pay Homage to the Original Game

The companies plan to do this by adding 8-bit design cues and paying homage to the iconic "Super Mario Bros." original game. The limited edition timepiece represents the nostalgic theme of the 1980s game along with the "never give up" attitude of the G-Shock.

Casio comes with the Mario red colorway for its main case and its front and center green Koopa shells in 8-bit style. Buyers can see Mario himself pop up on the screen positioned to stomp the shell when users enable the backlight.
